I am from York, PA and have also lived in West Chester, PA. I graduated West Chester University with a degree in Psychology. While in college I participated in Greek life! I was a sister of Phi Sigma Sigma for all four years. My favorite subjects while in high school were Psychology and American History. I am serving this year with Promise Corps because I want to support youth in the Philadelphia community. After this year, I’m not sure yet! I’m taking life one step at a time :). Something interesting about me is I have been to Ireland 4 times! My hobbies include reading, running, & listening to music — music is my therapy. I am from West Philadelphia and have also lived in in Reading, PA. I graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Criminal Justice. While in college I participated in The Black Student Union. My favorite subjects while in high school were History and English. I am serving this year with Promise Corps because I want to give back to my community to show them that anything is possible. After this year I plan to enroll in a Masters of Social Work Program. Something interesting about me is I have never broken a bone. My hobbies include reading, exercising, and cooking.

My favorite book I’ve ever read is “The New Jim Crow” by Michelle Alexander.

Shaquana Gannt

You can call me: Shaquana. I am from Philadelphia, PA. I graduated from Temple University with a degree in Human Development & Community Engagement. While in college I participated in National Society of Leadership. My favorite subjects while in high school were English/Reading. I am serving this year with Promise Corps because I feel it is my duty to give back to a community that I come from as well, being as though I am so fortunate enough to be able to do such a noble thing. After this year I plan to Enroll into grad school so that I can further my education. Something interesting about me is I played varsity basketball all throughout middle and high school. My hobbies include writing, reading, walking and dancing.

I am from New York and have also lived in only New York. I graduated from Binghampton University with a degree in Integrative Neuroscience. While in college I participated in Student psychological association, MEDLIFE, and intramural sports. My favorite subjects while in high school were Biology and Spanish. I am serving this year with Promise Corps because I enjoy working with youth and am excited to help them plan their future. After this year I plan to get my doctorate in physical therapy. Something interesting about me is that I’m addicted to ice cream. My hobbies include reading, running, and traveling.

I am from Newark, NJ and have also lived in in Bryn Mawr, PA. I graduated from Bryn Mawr College with a degree in Sociology. While in college I participated in non-profit organizations centered on incarcerated youth and lifers. My favorite subjects while in high school were History and Computer Science. I am serving this year with Promise Corps because I want to I want to get more experience working with and mentoring youth, particularly in a high school setting. After this year I plan to work as a college counselor or get my Masters in social work. Something interesting about me is I went to China for a month and climbed a part of the Great Wall of China. My hobbies include reading and playing basketball.

I am from Dallas, PA and have also lived in Philadelphia. I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Communication and Classical Studies. While in college I participated in Greek life, blogging for the Annenberg School for Communication, club ice hockey, intramural soccer, basketball, and football. My favorite subjects while in high school were English, history, and psychology. I am serving this year with Promise Corps because I want to be of service and help young people explore the vast world after high school. After this year I plan to figure out what my next step in life is. Something interesting about me is I studied Latin in college. My hobbies include reading, working out, watching Netflix, swimming, playing tennis, and exploring new restaurants and coffee shops around the city.

I am from Scranton, PA and have also lived in Philadelphia. I graduated from Temple University with a degree in Psychology. While in college I participated in Habitat for Humanity and Theater. My favorite subjects while in high school were science and US government. I am serving this year with Promise Corps because I’ve had amazing advising through my school years and I would love to help others in the same way. After this year I plan to start applications for law school. Something interesting about me is I LOVE dogs. My hobbies include volleyball, hiking, and reading. I am from West Philadelphia and have also lived in Austin, Texas. I graduated from Lock Haven University of PA with a degree in Early Childhood/Special Education. While in college I participated in LHU Cheerleading and DNDR Dance Group. My favorite subject while in high school was Mathematics. I am serving this year with Promise Corps because I want to be able to give someone the opportunity I did not have. After this year I plan to go back to school and continue my career. Something interesting about me is that I know how to play “Mary Had a Little Lamb.” My hobbies include dancing and doing things outdoors.

I am from Pittsburgh, PA and have also lived in Philadelphia for 8+ years. I graduated from Temple University with a degree in History. While in college I participated in Ultimate Frisbee team and other intramural sports. My favorite subjects while in high school were any history class, writing, and math. I am serving this year with Promise Corps because I believe in educational equity and giving young Philadelphians every opportunity to succeed. After this year I plan to figure out what I want to do next. Something interesting about me is I was on an episode of Mr. Rogers in 1st grade. My hobbies include listening to music, doing crossword puzzles, watching sports. I am from Coatsville, PA and have also lived in West Chester, Lancaster, Texas and Kenya. I graduated from West Chester University with a degree in Professional Studies. While in college I became a Brother of Pi Kappa Alpha and played on the Rugby team. My favorite subjects while in high school were all the sciences and English was cool too! I am serving this year with Promise Corps because I believe in service to others. After this year I plan to continue my path to Med school. Something interesting about me is I teach yoga. My hobbies include Rugby, cooking, being the only giants fan within 5 miles, yoga and road trips.
